Have eaten them out of hand or put them in my juicer along with other fruits and vegetables. They are said to lower blood sugar in people with elevated blood sugar levels and the juice is soothing for gall bladder problems. I have also eaten the smaller "leaves", after the big thorns are burned off, use a fresh green kitchen scrubber pad to remove the smaller ones and fry them in a little olive oil. They make a great veggie sandwich.

The photo of the drink is making my mouth water. Hope to find it the next time I visit Morocco.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18220453.post-78646620403340465012009-08-04T12:36:35.737+00:002009-08-04T12:36:35.737+00:00"In Sefrica we used to eat prickly pears chil..."In Sefrica we used to eat prickly pears chilled - pick with care to avoid long spines, brush off spines by rolling them in the sand with a stick, wash and peel off the tough skin, chill the sweet interior flash and eat. Probably great with pomegranate or mango juice."Giles (via Facebook)noreply@blogger.com
