Further sign of Iranian Moroccan Friendship

In a follow up to our story on the growing ties between Morocco and Iran, the Iranian Education Minister Mahmoud Farshidi, currently in Morocco on an official visit, went on a tour of the Moroccan city of Fès on Thursday and visited the city's scientific and cultural centers.

During his visit, the Iranian minister viewed Morocco's Academy of Arts, university, mosque and the holy shrine of Moulay Idris II, a descendent of Imam Hassan Mojtaba (AS) and founder of Fès.

Meanwhile, accompanied by the Iranian ambassador to Morocco and the chancellor of Fès University, he attended a session of the Dar al-Quran during which verses from the Holy Quran were recited.

The former capital of Morocco, Fès, is today considered its scientific hub and spiritual heart.

The arrival of one of the descendants of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) in Morocco in 786 AD led to the spread of Islam in this North African region.

Farshidi arrived in Morocco on Monday to attend the 26th meeting of the executive council of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) which ends today.
