Madeleine McCann in Morocco - Update

"We don't believe Madeleine McCann is in Portugal any more and need to get her picture and the story across Europe as quickly as possible."- Philomena McCann

While there has been huge interest in the Madeleine McCann story in Morocco, there have been no further sightings and no immediate response from the police to the story that the missing girl might be in the country. Our earlier story ( click here) generated a tremendous response and an outpouring of sympathy for the family.

There is no solid proof of Madeleine McCann being in Morocco but we understand that there is CCTV footage. If this is true, then it can only be hoped it is reviewed as fast as possible. It is feasible that a young person could be brought too Morocco as Marrakech can be easily reached in less than a day from the Algarve via Tarifa in southern Spain. There are two ferries a every hour that make the trip across the Strait of Gibraltar to Tangier. There is, however, the question of how the kidnappers would avoid customs and immigration inspections.

Meanwhile Madeleine McCann's family have gone on the record as saying for the first time that they no longer believe she is in Portugal. This news was sent in an email from Philomena McCann (Madeleine's aunt) to supporters of the ongoing search. In the email she said: "We don't believe Madeleine McCann is in Portugal any more and need to get her picture and the story across Europe as quickly as possible." She has been missing for eighteen days.

There have been reports of sightings in the UK, Morocco, Crete, Switzerland and Spain and police have admitted they failed to notify guards on the border with Spain until the morning after Madeleine McCann had gone missing. That leaves plenty of time to take the abducted child out of the country. Spanish police say it is possible she did cross the frontier.

Meanwhile, Madeleine McCann's parents, Glasgow-born cardiologist Gerry McCann and his GP wife Kate, both 38, have emailed medical contacts in north Africa with a missing person's poster in Arabic.

Thank you from the UK - our hearts are with Madeline and with the Mccann family, if only we could do more. The link to madeline's website is : www.findmadeline.co.uk.

Please keep this story alive - I think that the world needs this little girl home and soon

PS: Does anyone, anywhere know if the CCTV has been viewed by the Moroccan police and if not, why not and how do we get to know... if they havent been anywhere near the service station then why ?? whats happening ?

As the mother of a child very like Madeleine, I am finding this heartbreaking and the lack of progress and apparent delays in actioning anything of importance, such as border controls, the petrol station CCTV really, really upsetting. I just hope there is a massive amount of activity going on to find this child that we don't know about.

I was at home in ireland on a visit to my ill mother when Madeline went missing. It is heart breaking. I was spending time with my two wee nieces and I did notice a that when we were out in resturants peeople where being very careful with the kids and taking more of an interest in the surrondings and the people in the area. ABOUT TIME. People do have a habit of thinking OH well we know this area all will be well. NEVER let your gaurd down. I am back in the USA now, but I do keep posting messages on my web sites and in my emails to others to keep an eye out. We are a large Irish & Scottish community in NC. Madeline could be any where in the world. We must all keep watching and praying for her safe return.
On behalf of NC Irish & Scottish communtiy we wish the Mc cann family love and luck in the search.

Thanks for the update on this...

It is very concerning that more was not done in those first crucial hours after Maddie's abduction to shut down the borders of Portugal and warn the borders of neighboring countries. This makes it all the more likely she got out of Portugal within the first couple of hours. Another point the police seem to have forgotten is that if she was kidnapped by an organised ring of whatever, who knows how many people these abductors have helping them. What Europe needs across all countries is a similar system to the Amber Alert which effectively shuts down/alerts all borders and puts the missing child's name out there in a matter of a couple of hours, not a couple of days! Obviously this would be a difficult idea to implement but something needs to be done.

So many mistakes have been made that who knows where Maddie is right now. If she is even in Europe (anything can happen in 3 weeks), where the hell would one start looking.

Little Maddie, wherever you are I pray for your safe return as soon as possible. You are in our thoughts always.

How wonderful to see that this story is being kept alive. The disappearance of Madeleine McCann has torn my heart in two - I have a daughter of a similar age. For everyone with Moroccan connections, please, please, please keep putting the word out that this little girl is missing and she may be in North Africa. The findmadeleine website has some great posters translated into Arabic. Let's keep all the hope alive. Thank you x

Our hearts and prayers are with the Mccann family. This beautiful child has touched the hearts of millions around the world. If they've not already hired PI's, it would make sense to do so. While that may take some time, it can augment all of the other efforts currently in process. I agree with the person who suggested a global Amber Alert. We need to protect all of the children of this world from predators. I also hope there is much more activity than is being publicized. They need to find Madeline and bring her home!

I pray every night this bastard is found and executed, what gives anyone the right? Bring Madeline home where she belongs. We all have guardian angels, lets hope Maddy's is strong and determined enough to get her back to her family. Lets not give up hope!

My prayers go out to you & I am trying to keep the story alive here in America. I am British but now reside in the States. Once a child goes missing in America there is an instant 'Amber Alert', where info is posted on electronic screens which can be read from the seat of your car as you drive down a motorway. This needs to be approved & established in Europe. That is where some of our tax dollors/pounds should be going to.

I keep the McCann family in my prayers & pray for Madeleine's safe return.

I feel so bad for the family of madeline. There was a post that said a women was in morocco and spotted the little girl at a sevice station and she looked so said but she did not report it because she did not know about her being missing. I find that hard to believe because I was in morocco from May 3 to may 15 and it was all over the news there from the time it happened. I walked by a cafe and the news was on and it was talking about her being missing. And for know one else to see her its really strange because the moroccan people are very familiar with other people meaning foreigners in their country you cant walk anywhere without them staring at you because you are not from their country they spot you right away. And Madeline would surely be spotted by someone there is she was there. And the customs in morocco I find are very good. I travelled there with my 3 month old baby and I had to have a letter of consent with me from his dad because I was travelling alone with him. And I assure you they checked it out the funny thing is when I was leaving canada with him they did not ask any questions thats why I was so impressed with the moroccan customs even asking for that information from me. My husband is in morocco and from the first second we saw madelines picture on tv every time I was outside I was looking for her face. I did alot of walking in the streets of alot of towns in morocco and no one stood out that looked like her. I talked about it alot with people and they knew about it because of being on tv. So I am sure that if she was in morocco that someone would have seen her. She would definatley stand out there because of her beautiful blonde hair her eyes and he pail complexion. I have faith in the moroccan people that if madeline was there someone else would have seen her and someone would have reported it because it is very well reported there. Another thing is in the city of casablanca there are alot of army guards on the streets because of the bombings that just happened there and they watch everyone belive me the alert that morocco is on now they look at everyone and everything. I so hope that you will find that precious little angel I just wanted to let you know that I had my eye open while I was there because how close morocco was to spain anything is possible. God Bless her family and god bless the authorities that are looking for her.

Is there any way to distribute this poster in Arabic to email inboxes within Morroco? Is there an awareness in Morroco about Madeleine?

As the mother of a four year old daughter myself I really do feel for the parents of madeline and the family as a whole. I was praying that the psychic mediums would have got closer to what has happened as I am very sensitive myself I feel that the person or persons who is holding madeline may now be too scared to come forward because the search has gone so big across the internet and worldwide. I feel that she is still with us and I hope and pray that she is found very soon. I am sending Archeangel Michael to look after her where ever she may be. I am not one for usually writing comments on these type of websites but I feel that I wanted to say something and I hope that there is progress on this little girl soon x

I have been watching the news everyday in the uk. but i have noticed that there has been no news about madeleine. the last thing that was on was about some letter they recieved nothing more was said i hope there is more going on behind the scenes to find this beautiful little girl. I just hope to god that madeleine is being looked after safe and well by a childless couple/woman, and not in the hands of a sick bastard. my opinion is these sicko's who pray on innocent little children should have a death sentence, why should they have human rights what about the poor childrens lifes they ruin!? more should be done to stop these sick bastards doing what they do. Kill Them Off!! as soon as their caught a few years in prison is'nt going to work they'll just come out and destroy more childrens life's! My heart goes out to maddy and her family, keep strong for her and never give up looking for maddy. PLEASE WHO'S EVER GOT MADDY RETURN HER BACK TO HER FAMILY, SHE NEED'S THEM!!! Kellie
