Smile! You're in Fez

The city has a new logo: Smile! You're in Fez.

The chirpy happy face, sporting a fez with tassel flying, graces the cover of the latest edition of L'agenda, the cultural programme brochure distributed by the CRT (Conseil Regional du Tourisme) (see the photo above). You'll also find him greeting you at the airport, and all over the medina.

Bab Boujloud

We hope you're smiling!

  1. Funny, not exactly what I expected from one of the Western hemisphere's oldest cultural and intellectual centers. In its rivalry with Marrakesh, is Fez becoming Disneyfied?

  2. Oh perleeze! Theme park Fes! Why do the Maroc tourism people always get it wrong? They are totally clueless and have probably been watching too much American TV trash.

  3. Wal-Mart called...they want their logo back.

The agenda looks nicer than before though.

  6. Whoever came up with this nonsense should be fired! This is a dreadful image for our wonderful and precious city.

  7. Why have they picked a Chinese face wearing a Fez? Disgusting!

  8. Everyone who loves Fes should encourage the local urchins to vandalise this grotesque error of judgement.

  9. I find the logo of Fes ridiculous; it does not reflect the sacred aspect of the place.

  10. Another "nay" for the new logo....shows that when it comes to promoting Fez, we're clearly dealing with a bunch of amateurs in the MOT...I wonder if any of them have ever visited the medina!
