Fez hots up!

Heat stress in R'cif

As we reported a few days ago - summer has arrived. If there was any doubt the last couple of days would have dispelled it. Yesterday 36 degrees Celsius. Today probably 38.

The number of people suffering from heat exhaustion suddenly jumped and even the locals are saying it is a little too hot too soon. One woman we spoke to was out shopping for a cooler headscarf - much needed by if you judge by the beads of sweat on her brow. In R'cif a number of school children were effected and one man collapsed while selling cigarettes in the direct sunlight.

The tourists are now almost universally in shorts.

A motorbike in Seffarine

Also in the Medina an upsurge of the dreaded motorbikes. "It is getting like Marrkech," a shop owner in Seffarine grumbled. Thankfully it is not that bad yet. However, although motorbikes have started coming in through Bab Boujeloud, this was the first time we saw some in Seffarine.
