Fatal Fire in Fez

Three people were killed and several others were injured when fire broke out here on Saturday night, in the warehouse of a factory specialising in manufacturing ceramics.

According to a press release from the Wilaya of Fez, the fire had triggered the explosion of a propane gas tank, which caused the collapse of a slab.

A Civil Protection commander was among the dead.

An inquiry has been opened to determine the causes of the blaze.

Following the incident, King Mohammed VI has decided to pay the hospital and burial expenses for the victims.

Fez has had a run of bad luck lately with flooding and house collapses in the R'Cif area. Several small shops were flooded when the local river was blocked with debris before a rain storm.
