New Hospital and Research Centre in Fez

This week in Fez, King Mohammed VI inaugurated the first phase of the Hassan II university hospital centre. The centre is said to cost around $130 million USD.

Built on 120,000 sqm, the centre has an accommodation capacity of 880 beds. It is composed of a speciality hospital, a mother-child hospital, an operating bloc, a diagnosis room, an out-patient consultation pavilion and a central laboratory as well as oncology and nuclear medicine centres.

It also includes departments of surgical and medical specialities and intensive care.

The new facility is intended to benefit some six million people from the neighbouring regions and will contribute to promoting medical services and scientific research in this area.

The centre's budget for this year, worth $36 million USD, will enable staff to carry out a number of actions aimed at improving hospitalization conditions and medical services.

The sovereign was also informed about medical care in the Fez-Boulemane region, which has a 1.636.557-strong population. The region has 8 public hospitals, 17 private hospitals and 600 healthcare institutions.

Great News but will the people of Fez have enough money to be able to use the place??

That does sound like a lot of money, but money used on health is money well spent. Now a sufficient health care plan should be next.
