The newspapers are describing the plans for a huge new development in Casablanca in a bold headline as "ONCF launches Pharaonic real estate project in Casablanca."
The project, initiated by the Moroccan national rail carrier, ONCF, has begun with the launch of an international tender to select a consortium for the design, development, financing and the building and management of a hotel and multi-service shopping centre expected to cover 27,400 m2.
The project, described as having "magnificent dimensions" will adjoining the future Casa Port train station which is now under construction. The complex will consist of business offices, hotels as well as shopping and entertainment areas . Its estimated cost is 364 million of dirhams. The plans include include a tower of 25 floors and a building of 6 floors.
The final choice of the group for this private-public partnership will be completed by January 2014. The chosen group will have a thirty year lease on the site.
