Heavy Snowfalls Expected in Morocco

Heavy snow and cold weather are expected in several parts of Morocco, starting next Saturday, the National Meteorological Directorate (DMN) announced in a warning bulletin on Thursday

The heavy snowfall will affect several provinces, from Saturday 6 to Monday 8 January: Ifrane, Khénifra, Azilal, Al Haouz, Beni-Mellal, Midelt, Boulmane, Sefrou, Taza, Chichaoua, Ouarzazate, Tinghir, Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Taounate , El Hajeb and Taroudant.

Low to moderately moderate snowfall will also reach the reliefs or plateaus of the provinces of Ouazzane, Khemisset, Taourirt, Guercif, Jerada, Errachidia, Figuig and Tiznit.

Cold weather with temperatures between -9 / -3 ° C and -2 / 4 ° C are expected from Saturday 6 to Tuesday 9 January, in the provinces of Ifrane, Midelt, Azilal, Al Haouz, Beni-Mellal, Khénifra, Chichaoua, Boulmane, Tinghir, Taroudant, Ouarzazate and Figuig.


Temperatures between -3 / 2 ° C and 3/8 ° C are forecast for the provinces of Chefchaouen, Al Hoceima, Ouazzane, Taounate, Taza, Sefrou, Guercif, Fez, Meknes, El Hajeb, Khemisset, Khouribga, Taourirt, Oujda, Jerada, Errachidia and Tiznit.

The cold weather will also be felt on the plains to the west of the Atlas, as well as on the Mediterranean coasts, with minimum temperatures of 3 to 7 ° C, and maximum temperatures of 8 to 13 ° C.
