A training centre for handicrafts dedicated to the visually impaired was inaugurated on Thursday, February 28 in Fez, on the initiative of the Fez section of the Alawite Organisation for the Promotion of the Blind in Morocco (OAPAM )

This centre, which includes several workshops dedicated to sewing, weaving and cooking, was inaugurated by the Wali of the Fez-Meknes region, governor of the Fez prefecture, Said Zniber, who was accompanied by several local officials.

This new structure aims to promote and market the products of local crafts and contribute to the socio-economic integration of people with specific needs.

OAPAM Fes Section President Leila Bennis said the centre has been rehabilitated with the support of the National Initiative for Human Development (NIHD) and aims to promote handicrafts products made by blind and partially sighted people from Fez.

For this purpose, the Organisation has signed agreements with a number of experts who will be responsible for supervising the beneficiaries of the services of this centre, which will contribute to the marketing of the products on a large scale.
