Café Clock was packed last night for what turned out to be a wonderful evening of contemporary Japanese music.
Singer, Kaori Seki from Kanazaona in Japan teamed up with local musician Abdelwahed Laghrib only a few weeks ago, but in that time they have managed to polish up a fine repertoire of gentle evocative songs performed by Kaori. Abdelwahed's playing was as good as ever and a perfect compliment to the fine, bell-like purity of Kaori's voice.
The final song, Aisha, Aisha ( by Sheik Khaled) was well known enough to have the audiance singing along.
Oh Aisha, Aisha, ecoute-moi
Aisha, Aisha, t'en ne vas pas
Aisha, Aisha, regarde-moi
Aisha, Aisha, reponde-moi
Aisha, Aisha, t'en ne vas pas
Aisha, Aisha, regarde-moi
Aisha, Aisha, reponde-moi
The large crowd were entranced and as usual left the Clock wanting more.
