A Wet Week Ahead For Fez and Much of Morocco

Heavy rains are expected Thursday and Friday in several provinces of the kingdom, says the Directorate of National Meteorology (DMN) in a special bulletin. The extended forecast is for the rain to continue for the following week

Dense clouds and stormy weather persist across the country, including the northern plains, the Souss, the reliefs of the Atlas and their western plains, the interior regions, the Rif and the western Mediterranean, the south of the High Atlas and the northwest of the country.

The directorate states that cloudy skies and rain will cover the northern provinces south and east of the Mediterranean.

Snowfall is expected in the High and Middle Atlas above 1,500 m.

The Atlantic plains, and southeastern and southern provinces will experience blowing dust and sand.

Heavy rains ranging from 70 to 100 mm are expected from Thursday at 11:00 to Friday at 24:00 in the provinces of Chefchaouen, Ouezzane, Al-Hoceima (relief), Larache, Taza and Taounate, says the DMN. The forecast is for heavy rains (from 40 to 60mm) on Friday, from 06:00 to 24:00, in the Tangier-Assilah prefecture and the provinces of Fahs-Anjra and Tetouan.

Moderate to locally strong rains will fall on Friday in the provinces of Sidi Kacem, Meknes and Moulay Yaâcoub.

In Fez for the coming week the temperatures will be around 20 Celsius down to 10 or 12 at night.
