Amazigh Festival Opens in Fez


Mother Tongue and Diaspora ~ The 8th Festival of Amazigh Culture opened this afternoon in Fez, with a well attended ceremony and wonderfully well organised reception where guests were received a warm welcome along with tea, coffee and cakes - splendid!

After all the hard work, organisers Fatima Sadiqi and Moha Ennaji relax at the opening

The opening ceremony was held at the Palais des Congress. The organisations assisting the festival include the Fondation Esprit de Fès, Association Fès Saiss, Centre Sud Nord, with the Institut Royal de la Culture Amazighe and the Fondation BMCE.

The opening ceremony was followed by a tribute to the eminent writer Leila Abouzeid. Later in the evening two concerts took place. At Bab Makina: Hamadallah Rouicha, and Zina Daoudiya and Complexe Al Hourriya Ghetonia from Italy and the Saghru Band from Morocco.
