Just after midnight and cold! Not even much news to warm me up... but I did discover that the European Union has granted Morocco a €90 million non-reimbursable subsidy to fund a program on fighting unhealthy housing.
The grant, allocated under an accord signed Friday in Rabat, will be used in the framework of the Slum-free Cities Program that is an important part of the National Initiative for Human Development, a large-scale initiative launched by king Mohammed VI to fight poverty and social exclusion.
Morocco expects to eradicate some 900,000 shanties by 2010, through the Slum-free Cities Program, which aims to improve living conditions of some 212,000 families in 70 cities.
