According to the Moroccan Ministry of Interior, the chief of the royal palaces security, Abdelaziz Izzou was dismissed part of investigations on a drug trafficking network.
Izzou was dismissed after being cited by Mohamed Kharraz, AKA Chrif Bin Louidane, who was arrested by police on charges of drug trafficking. Kharraz cited several officials that worked in the Northern Moroccan region of Tangier, including Izzou, former head of Tangier judiciary police and of Tangier police prefecture during the 1996-2003 period, the Ministry said.
Following Kharraz's allegations, authorities ordered the opening of an investigation into the acts that occurred in 2003 to see if Izzou was involved in a drug-trafficking network while he was working in Tangier before his assignment to the royal security.
Other officials were dismissed under royal instructions to “secure the good process of investigation.”
