Low price house in Fez Medina

The third floor and halka (atrium)

Yesterday we reported on a dar(small house) for sale for 18,000 euro. Today inspected it and took some photographs to give you an idea of the condition of the property. This is a good example of the conditions at the lower end of the market.

Narrow upstairs passages

The bad news.

This is a tiny, compact eight room house. There is a huge amount of work to be done. The house is in need of rewiring, plumbing and has structural issues. The condition of the house at first glance suggested that it was probably not worth saving as more than a basic shell. However, on closer inspection the layout was interesting enough for someone wanting a private residence in a good part of the medina.

View down to central courtyard

The good news.

The original price of 18,000 euros is extremely flexible. It would probably be possible to purchase it for between 10,000 and 14,000. The location - down the same street as the Tanneries, means it is easy to get to and security is good. There are also good shops and restaurants within five minutes walk.

View from terrace

The view from the small terrace is pretty but not spectacular in one direction. In the other it is into a sea of TV dishes and aerials!

Summing up.

A very cheap small house in a good area, but it will take a lot of work to restore it. We suggest an offer of around 14,000 will buy it.
