Morocco's tourist invasion - the Norwegians are coming.

There has been some concern in the Medina about the sudden influx of tourists coming on the new cheap airline flights such as Ryanair and questions raised by the government about potential bed shortages.

Well, one group of tourists are bringing their beds with them. Yes - the cruise liners are also waking up to the fact that Morocco is a great destination and easy to fit into a Mediterranean itinerary.

The latest ship to announce it is heading this way is a luxury plus Norwegian vessel called the Norwegian Gem. If having everything sorted out for you is your style then this could be for you. Designed to provide guests the most customizable experience at sea, the Norwegian Gem features multiple restaurants, public rooms, versatile, family-friendly accommodation - courtyard Villas, which along with each ship’s two Garden Villas make up the biggest, most luxurious, most innovative suite complexes at sea. Oh, and did I mention that they have painted the side of the ship in crazy colours?

Now I know you have never traveled by sea because of the lack of bowling alleys...well, you just ran out of excuses as the Norwegian Gem will feature the industry’s second onboard bowling alley. The first bowling alley at sea will debut on her sister ship, Norwegian Pearl, which will be inaugurated in Rotterdam, Netherlands on November 29.

The Norwegian Gem will sail five new Mediterranean itineraries. November 9 and 21, the ship will sail three twelve-night cruises roundtrip from Barcelona bookable from 1.049 Euro per person calling in Malaga (Granada/Spain), Casablanca and Agadir (Morocco), the Canary Islands of Lanzarote and Gran Canaria, Lisbon (Portugal), Cadiz (Sevilla/Spain), Gibraltar (England), and Palma de Majorca (Spain).

Then again you could just catch a ferry from Spain.
