Moroccan Press Agency website stumble

UPDATE: Some readers have managed to access the site - and report it is working fine.

Moroccan Press Agency MAP launches website in Japan- that was the headline - but sadly the website has so far failed to appear.

On Monday, in Tokyo, the Moroccan Press Agency Maghreb Arabe Presse (MAP) launched a website http://www.map-japan.jp which was intended to provide the media and researchers with specific and general information about Morocco in Japanese. Our researchers have tried every possible configuration of the web address supplied by MAP and still no joy.

The launching of the website was to have coincided with the establishment of a new outpost of the agency in Tokyo (Japan), which goes along with MAP's strategy to gain a foothold in Asia and strengthen its international network.

The website, when it appears, will provide Japanese visitors with information about Morocco, Moroccan-Japanese relations, as well as political, economical, cultural and sporting issues.

The establishment of this outpost, besides those of Beijing and Delhi, mirrors the growing interest of Morocco in Japan and Asia.

We emailed MAP to ask what the problem was - we are still awaiting an answer.

At the same time, it seems strange that there is a push into the very small Japanese market when the English language site Morocco Times has closed down. The priority should have been an English language web portal for Morocco.

Maybe MAP should get out of the office and onto the streets where anyone could tell them that the large growth area in tourism and investment is English speaking.

The link is working fine for me: you can choose either French, Japanese, Spanish or English to view the site.

I'm with you. Seems like they are alienating a lot of people by doing this.

I'm not sure how Patrick got onto the site. It certainly was not working for me today or yesterday. I hope they fix it soon. I also agree with the previous comment. We need an English language site - but in the meantime we do have you guys. Keep it up.
