Moroccan ingenuity - could have proved shocking!

Moroccan ingenuity can be a two-edged sword. Sometimes a simple solution to a problem can be a dangerous one.

Take the case of a local workman. He was doing some great work on improving the shelter above small shops inside the Bab Boujeloud. The problem was he had a large masonry drill and the local shops power supply was not strong enough. So after blowing a few fuses a solution was required. Forget hiring a generator... just wire yourself into the main cables.

Now, industrial health and safety guidelines would advise against such action, particularly if it was raining, that you had no rubber-soled shoes and were standing on a metal ladder. However, time is money and so, as our photographs show, the electrician had no problem in "plugging in" the drill.

Work continued and we are happy to report that no electrocutions took place.
