There has been a bit of grumbling about the rainy weather over the last few days in Fez. However, spare a thought for other parts of Morocco.
Areas of Morocco that were subjected to the deadly flooding after heavy rainfall at the end of October have once again been hit by torrential rains. According to the weather charts the latest inundation has been caused by a slow-moving storm system. At least 28 people were left dead by the floods up to October 30th, and numerous houses and bridges were destroyed. This weekend's storm has dumped widespread heavy rain; Larache received 6.53 inches of rain in 48 hours ending midday on Sunday. Other high rainfall amounts were reported at Chefchaouen (5.71 inches), Tangiers (3.74 inches), Safi (3.59 inches) and Rabat (2.17 inches). Tangiers has received roughly 10 inches of rainfall since October 10th; the normal rainfall for all of October and November is normally less than 8 inches.
