A new "green" political party in Morocco

The political landscape in Morocco has taken on a welcome touch of green with the birth of the Environment and Sustainable Development Party,(Le Parti de l'Environnement et du Développement Durable).

Chairman of the preparatory commission of the new party's congress, Ahmed Alami, said the party will be open to all members of society who desire to preserve the environment and natural resources.

Ahmed Alami stressed that the environment issue was vital since it concerns the whole world and its protection is a collective responsibility. Ahmed Alami added that the party, along with other Arab green parties, recently formed the Arab Rally of Green Parties and the Arab Ecological Movement.

During the party's congress themed "a new political approach for a healthy environment, social justice and the building of a Morocco for everyone", Ahmed Alami was elected Chairman of the party.
