Jürgen Möller

It's with great sadness that we announce the death of our friend and colleague, Jürgen Möller, after a long illness.

Jürgen was well-known in Fez as a bon viveur, gourmet, raconteur of note and superb host.
He and his wife Pauline started Riad Lune et Soleil some years ago, and it has become one of the medina's favourite and most successful guesthouses. Jürgen had a talent for befriending all the visitors who stayed at the Riad and beguiling them with tales of his beloved Fez. He was a wonderful chef and trained his staff admirably. He and Pauline were often to be found at the Central Market early in the mornings, choosing the best possible fish and the freshest vegetables.

From an early age, Jürgen was an avid collector, particularly of Moroccan carpets, coins and postcards. The Riad - and their home - is artistically decorated with all sorts of interesting objets. He had a great eye for a beautiful piece of furniture, an interesting kitchen gadget or a rusty old lock.

Our condolences to Pauline, his son and daughter by his first marriage, his sons Benjamin and Thomas, and his grandchild.

Happy evenings around the Spanish table in the leafy courtyard at Riad Lune et Soleil will be remembered by many, and Jürgen will be greatly missed.

My deepest sympathy to Pauline, Benjamin, Thomas, and the rest of his family. Jurgen was a good friend and great companion. His storytelling and generosity will be missed.

Our condolences to Pauline and all the family Jurgen leaves behind. Scholar, gentleman, bon viveur and wit, as well as a true 'collector', Jurgen's warm welcome at Lune et Soleil was a major reason for me returning over and again to Fes and eventually moving here with my family. This news is extremely sad.

I never really knew Jurgen that well, but when searching the medina for old furniture etc. the sellers would always me if I knew him, and alaways spoke of him with genuine warmth.

I am very sad when I read this news.
Juergen was my best German friend in Fes, we spent many great evenings full of good food, beer and inspirational conversations. I will miss him very much. My deep compassion to his wife pauline and his kidz.
