Celebration of Creative Writing in Fez

Can you sing, dance, act or play a musical instrument? The Moroccan Association of Friends of English (MAFE) would like to borrow your talents for an evening.

MAFE is putting together a variety show in celebration of the announcement of the winners of the National Competition of Creative Writing. It will be held at The Cultural Complex al-Hurriya, near Tajemouti Mosque in Fez's Ville Nouvelle, on October 30 at 3pm.

Nidal Chebbak, Vice-President of the Association, said, "We are looking for talented people to perform as in singing or acting or playing musical instruments (either a band or solo)."

The Association doesn't have a budget to pay performers, but it will be an opportunity to show off their talents.

"The (creative writing) competition started few months ago," said Ms Chebbak. "People who were interested sent us their entries of either a short story or one poem. We have a jury composed of professors of Literature from different cities of Morocco, who are now going over the participants work to select the winners - two short stories and two poems. The prizes aren't settled yet but there are going to be very important ones."

She said the competition was being held in partnership with the Regional English Language Office North Africa (RELO), located at the American Embassy, Rabat as well as The British Council.

If you are interested in performing please contact Ms Chebbak at nidal7chebbak@gmail.com.
