African Archery Championships to be held in Morocco

The Federation of African Archery Championships are to be held in Rabat between 11-16 March 2012.

The Championships, which are held every two years, will also run concurrently with the Olympic Qualifier for London 2012 and will be preceded by a week long coaches course organized by World Archery and funded by scholarships for Olympic Solidarity. Thirty-nine athletes and coaches from across the continent qualified for the bursary.

About one hundred athletes from sixteen African countries, including Algeria, will take part in the 9th Africa Archery Championship in the cities of Rabat and Salé. The event in Rabat will be at the Moulay Rachid Sports Complex.

The Federation of African Archery is recognised by the International Federation, World Archery, as the governing body of the sport on the African Continent. The FAA is comprised of all African members in good standing with World Archery.

Morocco has had some outstanding archers in past years. Among these is the female archer Khadija Abbouda.
