The Festival in the City brings together great musical traditions : the sacred, the spiritual, and world music. It follows the general pattern of the Fes Festival of World Sacred Music, but offers free concerts to the inhabitants of Fes, Morocco and abroad, in various parts of the city each day.
Boujloud Square draws huge crowds |
Some of the free concerts are aimed at large crowds, and take place at Boujloud Square. Of a more spiritual nature are the free concerts entitled Sufi Nights. This is the perfect way to end the day in an ambience of warmth, spirituality and conviviality in the gardens of Dar Tazi in the heart of the medina.
Alongside the concerts are exhibitions in various venues such as Dar Tazi, the Batha Museum, Dar Batha, Dar Mokri, Dar Adyel, the Kacimi Gallery and the Hotel Palais Jamaï. They can be visited at any time during the Festival.
The Festival in the City also has daily activities for children and teenagers. The educational and artistic programme includes exhibitions, concerts, shows and various other performances. This runs every day during the Festival and is always a great success.
