On Sunday April 6, the first annual Slideluck Fez was held at ALIF Riad. It was a highly successful event which combined a shared meal, with food and drink brought by the attendees and a series of 14 slideshows with music by local and international artists. Photos by Casey Kelbaugh

Many ALC and students and members of the public attended the enjoyable and engaging evening, as well as Slideluck founder Casey Kelbaugh, who had flown in from New York. It was organised by Peace Corps worker Amoy Barnes, who has been working with a local Dar Chabab, or youth centre, for the past two years and photographer Omar Chennafi, with sponsorship from the American Language Center Fez.

Slideluck began in 2000, when commercial photographer Casey Kelbaugh hosted the first event for fifty people in his backyard in Seattle. Since then Slideluck has hosted multimedia slideshows combined with "potluck" dinners in over seventy five cities around the world.

The concept brings together diverse groups of people, artwork, food, ideas and perspectives under one roof. From this diversity something unique and magical is born. Each event is localised in that artists from a community present work to that community. The work of established artists is shown alongside that of emerging and non-professional artists.
