Concern In Morocco Over King's Health

Moroccan around the country are praying for a speedy recovery after news that HM King Mohammed VI was suffering from ill health


The King had been due to depart for a state visit to China, but acting on instructions from his physician, the trip, scheduled to begin on November 27th, was postponed. The news was released by the Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery.

According to the King’s personal physician the illness is an acute influenza syndrome plus a 39.5 degrees fever. The King's condition is complicated by bronchitis.

Morocco World News reports that the Chinese government “fully understands” the reasons behind the postponement of King Mohammed VI’s visit to Beijing, which was due to start last Thursday. “Moroccan authorities informed us about the decision to postpone HM King Mohammed VI’s visit to China” a spokesman of the Chinese foreign ministry said. “For these reasons, it was difficult to make the visit,” Chinese official added, expressing his country’s “sympathy” and ‘wishes of “prompt recovery” to the King.

At Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Hua Chunying's, regular press conference the Chinese added that "the Moroccan side regrets the postponement and expresses the willingness to rearrange the King's visit to China at another time when it is convenient for both sides".
