Alright Gandhi ~ Free Concert in Fez

Alright Gandhi in Concert! With Rosa Mercedes, Sarah Ariche, Victor Herrero, & Karl-Erik Enkelmann.  Saturday, March 11 at 7 PM, ALIF Riad, 6 Derb Drissi, Batha

Alright Gandhi draws from diverse backgrounds, combining traditional Moroccan and Arabic music, Andalusian music, Jazz, and English folk with words in both English and Arabic.

Rosa Mercedes is an English-Dutch-German singer-songwriter and bass player, currently recording and touring around Europe both solo and with Alright Gandhi. Rosa grew up singing in an English folk choir that travelled around England, providing her songwriting with a strong sense of melody and storytelling. Since touring extensively with her band Alright Gandhi, she has combined experience as a performer with an interest in meditative ceremony. As a solo artist she uses her songs to invoke introverted dream journeys that move between music and poetry.

Sarah Ariche is a Moroccan singer, guitarist and drummer. She lives in Tangier, where she regularly performs and teaches music. She has been working on a collection of beautiful original songs which she and Kalle Enkelmann have been looking to record and release since meeting in Tangier in 2015.

Victor Herrero is a Spanish guitarist, most well known for his work with Josephine Foster. He is fluent on electric guitar, Spanish guitar and Portuguese guitar. He's currently working on a solo instrumental record of his Portuguese guitar improvisations.

Karl-Erik Enkelmann is a German-Norwegian bass-player and music producer with a background in jazz and improvised music. He developed an intense interest in African and Moroccan music after he had the chance in 2013 to perform with Gnaoua-master Mokhtar Guinia in Berlin. He has traveled to Morocco on several occasions since, recording music with the Orchestre Ismael de Meknes, released on Agogo Records in 2015. As a member of the Julia Kadel Trio he has been featured on albums released on the prestigious label “Blue Note.” He also runs the music production company and label “Makawi Music."

This concert, organized by the ALC-ALIF Music Club, is free and open to the general public.
