New Airline Links To Morocco


The Hungarian airline Low-cost "Wizzair" will launch, on October 31, a direct link between Warsaw and Marrakech and a new direct airline connecting the German city of Düsseldorf-Weeze to Essaouira

"The opening of this new service on Marrakech will strengthen the presence of the destination Morocco on the Polish market and at the level of Eastern Europe, considered one of the most important emerging markets," said the delegation of the ONMT in a statement.

This direct link is the result of a partnership contract signed between ONMT and Wizzair, which will cover the winter season 2018-2019 until the end of March 2019, with the possibility of renewal for the summer 2019 season, according to the same source.

This direct line will bring the Marrakech destination of Polish tourists and will drain a more diversified clientele with the possibility of "MICE" and "City Break" on Marrakech from Poland, the statement said.

This new flight Warsaw-Marrakech will be operated at the rate of two flights per week (Wednesday and Sunday) with departure from Warsaw Chopin airport at 7:05 or 7:15 for an arrival at 11:05 or 11:15 at Marrakech Menara airport, and a return Marrakesh at 12:00 for an arrival in Warsaw at 5:50 pm, says the same source.

After successfully making its first entry on the Moroccan market with the Warsaw-Agadir flight, the Hungarian airline opted for Marrakech as the second destination served by direct flight, said the ONMT, adding that all the flights of Wizzair are operated by Airbus A 320 with 180 seats or Airbus A 321 with 230 seats.

With this new Essaouira-Düsseldorf air service, with two flights a week, Tuesday and Saturday, and another line connecting Ouarzazate to Madrid, Ryanair will bring the number of Moroccan airports served to nine.

In a statement to the MAP on this occasion, Redwane Khanne, President of the Provincial Council of Tourism of Essaouira, welcomed this initiative which is part of the initiative of the ONMT aiming at the opening up of the air city, noting that this new air link will allow tourism operators of the city trade winds to open on a market with high potential.

For its part, the director of Essaouira-Mogador International Airport, Yahya Laarouss, said that the opening of this new airline testifies to the positive dynamics of air connectivity experienced by the tourist and cultural destination of Essaouira, noting that this dynamic has been confirmed for the first nine months of the year when this airport recorded an increase in the passenger traffic rate of almost 20%.

This dynamic would be consolidated with new flights that will be inaugurated with other airlines in this case Easy Jet, he said, recalling that this initiative was made possible thanks to the ONMT, but also to the National Office of Airports (ONDA) which offers new air routes tariff incentives for aeronautical fees.

Several passengers, for their part, praised this initiative to allow them better access to the city of Essaouira, tourist and cultural destination must. The number of weekly flights to the city of Essaouira currently amounts to 28 direct links, it is recalled.

Essaouira is also connected to Casablanca through the Royal Air Maroc (RAM), which connects the city of Alizés to several destinations served by the national airline.
