Monday Zoom Lecture: From Berber Culture to Amazgh Consciousness

Virtual explorations, digital engagement and creativity boosting
Culture Vultures and Sefrou Museum of Multiculturalism are two small but prolific sister cultural organizations coming from Sefrou, in the heart of Northern Morocco.  Over the first few months of lockdown Jess Stephens, founder and director, spent many confinement hours and much of her energy brewing ideas of how to continue to share and engage Moroccan culture with an international audience.
One of the outcomes of the creative brainstorming is a Digital Lecture Series, launched this week.  On Monday the 13th, David Packer, contemporary artist and Fullbright scholar, presented his lecture “The Earth has Three Colors’ – a celebration of Moroccan ceramics, complementing his book under the same title.  Packer shared his research discoveries over a zoom presentation, a fascinating example of the array of diverse cultures that have literally,  left their mark on contemporary Morocco. From the hand build pots of Riffian mountain women, to factory productions in France for a Moroccan market and fashionable Marrakeshi design of today, The Earth Has Three Colors goes way beyond archiving what three clay variations can produce. https://www.packerdavid.com/the-earth-has-three-colors/

Next up – an unraveling of the lengthy history and intricacies of Amazigh identity, tribally, nationally and globally, shaped not only by landscapes and politics over millennia but also redefined and reclassified over recent decades.  Join Professor Sadik R’ddad and partake in his lecture titled Amazigh Culture: From Berber Culture to Amazigh Consciousness.  Zoom. Monday 20th of July, 4 p.m. GMT+1.  For more information and tickets go to http://culturevulturesfez.org/e-program/
Other digital escapades coming from Culture Vultures include creativity boosting courses, https://artistsadventur.es/  artist and artisan presentations and online debates.  Next weekend sees an electronic bridging between Sefrou and Sydney as creativity coach Jan Cornall of Writers Journey partners with Culture Vultures. The Six Senses of Sefrou is a creativity course for writers and visual practitioners with Sefrou and its community as a muse. This electronic creativity getaway is a perfect weekend of cultural immersion getting in close and meeting Morocco without the participant leaving their home. For more information or to join in (from anywhere in the world!) see https://www.writersjourney.com.au/the-six-senses-of-sefrou-morocco/
Keep linked to Morocco and follow Culture Vultures and the establishing of Sefrou Museum of Multiculturalism on www.instagram.com/culturevulturesfezsefrou/  C.V.’s digital program enables a global audience to engage and divulge in Moroccan culture; a silver lining to CoVids dark cloud of travel restrictions and meet up limitations.
