Happy New Year from the King of Morocco.


King Mohammed VI of Morocco has sent congratulations messages to World leaders on New year wishing that 2007 be the year of "coexistence and interaction between cultures and civilizations."

The monarch expressed his best wishes to the world leaders and said that good wills will boost the noble human ideals of freedom, peace, global security, solidarity and shared progress.

The sovereign also received congratulations messages from World leaders on this same occasion.

King Mohammed VI granted pardon to 585 prisoners on the occasion of Id Al-Adha

According to a Justice Ministry communiqué, total pardon was granted to 106 over their remaining prison term or seclusion, reduction of imprisonment term or seclusion to 425, commuting of life imprisonment to time term to 7, total pardon over the prison term or its remaining time to 8.

The royal pardon also concerned writing off the fine to 28, total pardon of the imprisonment term with maintaining the payment of the fine to 11 and.

At the same time it was announced that 488 prisoners have benefited from exceptional authorizations to celebrate Id Al-Adha with their families.

This gesture is part of the efforts to humanize prisons and implement the human rights program at the penitentiary institutions.

The number of exceptional authorizations granted in 2006 has reached 1,105, while it ranged between 250 and 300 authorizations during the latest years.

Id Al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) is one of the two most important holidays in Islam when each Muslim family slaughters a sheep to commemorate prophet Abraham’s willingness to obey God by offering him his son. God stopped him from making the sacrifice and gave him a ram instead.
