Morocco and the European Union - Update

A new stage in relations between the EU and Morocco: EU Declaration at the 7th meeting of the EU-Morocco Association Council

Relations between the EU and Morocco have reached a new stage and the partnership with Morocco has a fundamental value for the EU, not only in respect to the Maghreb region but for the whole of the Mediterranean area, according to an EU Declaration at the 7th meeting of the EU-Morocco Association Council.

Morocco and the EU have set up a working group to examine the possibility of an “Advanced Status” for Morocco in the European Neighbourhood Policy and stronger links with Europe. This reinforced partnership between the EU and Morocco reflects the will of the EU to encourage Morocco in its courageous process of modernisation and democratisation.
