War zone fashion tips from Elle Lebanon

Some weeks ago we posted about Elle magazine moving into the Arab world, where Beruit was seen as a real fashion trend-setter. These days, as Beirut has descended once more into a hellish war zone, six Elle staffers are hiding out in a "safe place," as [Elle Orient] editor in chief Désirée Sadek wrote in an e-mail to American Elle editor in chief Roberta Myers. It could not be confirmed whether Sadek and her staff will complete the next issue.

"We don't really know what tomorrow will bring, but we continue to work because we are very depressed if we don't," Sadek wrote in response to Myers' query. She added the Lebanese staff would try to "prepare a special edition with a supplement about all this and the courage of women and children who are dying under the attacks."

Fashion under fire? We wish them well.
