The Fès Festival of World Sacred Music Opens Tonight

The opening night at Bab Al Makina should be a spectacular event. Rehearsals culminated yesterday with a dress rehearsal that was flawless. The reaction from those who watched it describe the production and "stunning" and "sumptuous".

The opening night is not to be missed. Billed as a tribute to Omar Khayyam, the Director, Tony Gatlif has pulled out all the stops, with a unique stage design, artists from East and West Asia Central to Egypt, Iran, Italy. The concert promises to "re-enchant" the work of the great poet Omar Khayyam.

Tony Gatlif 

Tony Gaitlif is well known for directing musicals and making films that capture the essence and emotion of oriental or Sufi Music. His work honouring the great poet Omar Khayyam will symbolise the theme of the 18th Annual World Sacred Music Festival, "re-enchanting the world". Tony Gatlif has produced this work in collaboration with Dr. Faouzi Skali and Alain Weber.

THE WEATHER

A cooler morning has had many people wondering about the chance of rain . According to those who claim to know there is only a 10% risk and certainly not this evening. Visitors will find the evening cooler than usual.
